Wrestling is an ancient sport that originated long before the times of historic annals. Even since the days of ancient Greece, wrestling has dominated the sporting arena in the sense that it has formed the center of any main event. Any event or function would include a wrestling competition. Over the years, wrestling has changed various forms, morphing and blending itself with the changing customs and environments it has faced, but has not lost its touch of instigating excitement and thrill in the people who appreciate it. Recent years have witnessed a mammoth growth in the craze for wrestling especially in Europe and America where teenagers are obsessed with a maniacal penchant for wrestling and wrestlers, who are fondly named 'wrestling superstars'.
Championship Wrestling is an official version of wrestling where wrestlers from different places take part. Generally, there is an organization that monitors all the wrestling activities, like scheduling the matches, deciding the winners and giving away the prizes. This organization employs wrestlers who are bound under a contract to the organization for a specified time period till which they have to take part in any wrestling match the organization schedules for them. One such famous championship wrestling organization is the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Formerly known as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), this organization has revolutionized wrestling to the extent of making it a much sought after profession. Already young kids who are asked about their ambition in future come up with the enthusiastic reply that they want to pursue wrestling as a career option. WWE has brought a new outlook to wrestling by broadcasting it in such a way that it is elevated from a sport to more of a real life drama amalgamated with the excitement of sport.

WWE has many wrestling superstars under contract who have gained fame through their breath-taking maneuvers and risky stunts during their bouts. These superstars would have undergone years of rigorous training before entering the arena, knowing all about the risks involved and the precautions to be taken. With their skill and ability they provide entertainment to the audience, who egg them on. There are championship belts awarded to special winners. There are various kinds of belts, like WWE Championship belt, WWE Heavyweight belt, WWE Intercontinental Championship belt, WWE Light Heavyweight Championship belt, WWE Women's Championship belt, etc. These belts are won through a series of matches in which one wrestler emerges victorious outperforming all other competitors. Once a wrestler has won a belt, he keeps it till another wrestler challenges him for the title. This title match is earned by displaying wrestling skills against another wrestler. For example, there might be a Royal Rumble match where about twenty wrestlers face off to decide who gets a shot at the title. The winner of the Royal Rumble is selected as the competitor for the title. Similarly, there are various kinds of matches like ladder matches, table matches, Hell in a Cell, Casket matches, Inferno, King of the Ring, etc. which are all a part of Championship Wrestling.
